Player Announcement - Dominic Papa

Defender Dominic Papa is the latest Sporting AZ FC player to round out the Team USA Squad. 

Dom brings a wealth of experience to the team. After attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on a soccer scholarship, he returned to Arizona and joined PDL side FC Tucson.  He then played with the San Antonio Scorpions of the NASL and FC Arizona of the NPSL.

Dom has spent as much time hitting the books as he has on the pitch.  He has a B.A. in Political Science and Italian, an M.A. in Public Administration, and he's currently a J.D. candidate at Arizona State University.

We asked Dom what his expectations are going into Lisbon. "First and foremost I expect to win. I think that Adam and Tom have done an unbelievable job at putting a talented group of players together and there is no doubt in my mind that we can compete against the best in the world. Second, I am extremely excited for the fact that a majority of the team is made up of local Arizona players. It is going to be an incredible platform for us to highlight the amazing soccer talent that exists right here in Arizona. It will bring not only the nation’s, but the world’s attention to the high quality of soccer in Arizona."
